Every day that I wake up I am thankful for our Speaker Relations Manager: Bianca K.S. Brown. Where do I begin?
For starters, I want to share with you that Bianca and I go way back. We have known each other and worked together for years. I believe wholeheartedly that we are divine gifts to one another’s life, and I regard the relationship that I have with her as borderline sacred. I really believe that we are assigned to one another’s life in this season of life for multiple purposes.
Bianca came to my rescue when we initially met and continues to come to my rescue on a daily basis. We rescue each other regularly.
Here’s our story:
I had recently met Bianca’s dad Mr. John Brown who served honorably in our United States military in addition to being a graduate of the prestigious Westpoint. Mr. Brown heard me share my personal story at an event. At that time years ago I was just getting started in business…literally just beginning to learn the ropes, and had paid a graphic designer to create a logo for me. Long story short, the graphic designer didn’t give me the version of the logo that I needed in order to be able to do the things I needed to do with it. I met Bianca’s father in the middle of this emergency, and Mr. Brown was kind enough to ask his daughter Bianca if she would be able to help me and help she did. She rescued that situation single-handedly. I was so impressed with this young lady. Bianca, not only had her own graphics design company when we met but when I leaned in closer to interact and observe her, I soon learned that was more dependable and had a stronger work ethic than many adults that I had encountered that were twice her age. This was incredulous to me. I am laughing as I’m typing this thinking of it. It became obvious to me that indeed Bianca had been a cub raised by two parents who were soldiers because her functionality was similar to that of a literal clock. Bianca is just that dependable. She shows up as dependably as the next minute.
In addition to being a powerhouse in her own right, Bianca is gifted in areas that I am not necessarily gifted in. I can do some of the things she can do if I have to but they are not my predominant gifts. I am a very direct communicator for example. A part of the reason that I’ve been successful in business is that I’m so direct. I’m not ‘salesy’ although I work in sales. Bianca is naturally diplomatic. I am not a naturally patient person. Bianca has more patience than I do. I am very driven like a lot of CEOs and Founders. My drive is good for business but sometimes causes me to be too blunt, which is something I’m working on. Bianca has a softness to her demeanor that is out of the ordinary if one takes the time to pay attention. She actually takes pride in being soft-spoken and has very little interest in being loud or gruff in any way, shape or form. We have discussed this- so trust me, I know. I see value in both of our gifts and talents, and we learn from one another daily.
I couldn’t and most leaders cannot do what I’m doing, on the scale or magnitude that I’m doing it, without a Bianca.
Now here’s the surprise: Bianca asked me to be her mentor years ago. I accepted the invitation and became serious about the mentorship because I don’t spend my time haphazardly. I’ve been driving information and character development into her to the point of overflow, however, in truth, she didn’t need much character development.
If and when I decide to do something, I do it with all my might, and with zeal and form and focus. I’m the kind of person who organizes my day and nights by the minute. That’s even how I talk. “I have two minutes.” or “I can do that in 5 minutes.” I’m very much like a competitive athlete in that way. I have had to be. I have over the years, poured myself into Bianca, in hopes of duplicating my form and ensuring that she had a shot at her dreams, yet I have realized something. She was already formed. She just needed the confidence to believe in her own formation and learning process.
As I transferred the qualities that come naturally to me, I realized that Bianca had qualities that benefited me as well. If I had a nickname for Bianca it would be “Quiet Storm.” She’s as my favorite book says “wise as a serpent, and as harmless as a dove.” She simply doesn’t believe that true power has to be loud and obnoxious and forceful, and people underestimate her for it, on a daily basis. People cut her off when she’s speaking because they assume that because she’s soft-spoken, she has no value in the business world. How untrue such an assumption could be. When a lioness roars, there’s a reason for it but they don’t just go around roaring.
Bianca graduated Magna Cum Laude as you can read in her bio, and she is also a member of an academic sorority. Not only does Bianca have the character necessary for business, she actually brings a lot to the table at my agency, which is why she was placed in the Speaker Relations Manager role. This role naturally utilizes her gifts of organization, stewardship, technological troubleshooting, and diplomacy. She is highly organized and versatile. Get to know Bianca today!
